These were designed with in honor of my dear Opa, a Dutchman that immigrated to the California coast in the 30’s with his family. It is inspired by ideas of place and belonging. As well as his love for the west and art. He and I had a love for art nouveau, which I’m sure I got from him. He gifted me a Klimt reproduction in his passing. Hence the work here speaks to western motifs as well as those of the art nouveau era. It is ultimately a piece about the intersection of connection to place and the wild within us.
